A Routine EEG is generally used as an initial investigation to record brain activity for a shorter period. In certain cases, a longer recording may be required. A Two-Hour EEG provides additional monitoring time, which may help record changes that do not appear during a routine test.

Patients should follow the preparation instructions provided by their doctor or diagnostic centre. Keeping the hair clean and free from oil, gel or spray can help with proper electrode placement. Prescribed medicines should not be stopped unless advised by a doctor.
